I'm not bragging or complaining. I'm just commenting that 10/31/2014 was the lowest daily traffic for ALL of my web content since creating an online web presence. Only 2 visitors other than me visited any of my content. Many things contribute to that.

1) I am not promoting any of my content.
2) Web hosts have shut down leaving dead links in the search engines. I haven't made any efforts to replace the dead links.
3) I'm stagnant on updating content or finding out new comic information.
4) I don't like modern comics and I don't sugarcoat my words to appease the people who need their decisions and choices validated. I don't get along for the sake of getting along. Many people have blacklisted me (which is fine).
5) It was a minor holiday. People were more concerned about teaching their kids to worship Satan and the demon Diabetes.

I've mentioned elsewhere, but I've felt that messageboards are a dying format. Any content that can't be squeezed comfortably into a mobile phone screen is becoming less appreciated. I guess the key word here is "comfortably".

My lack of interest participating online to a greater capacity is directly tied to the theft of personal information being done and the collection of that information.
I was looking at a log window of packet requests and noticed that my browser was sending out packet request before a web site had even been visited. My browser loads to a web page I wrote with shortcuts to the places I want to visit. The web page is on my hard drive. Imagine my surprise to see a flow of packet requests going out to the web that have NOTHING to do with me clicking anything. With the shift towards secure browsing, these packet requests are evidently designed to establish a secure connection. Since I'm not passing personal & financial information that this type of connection protects, I'm not interested in HTTPS protocols. HTTPS protocols protect your data, but they also facilitate better collection of information about you through the sharing of marketing information behind the scenes. The ad sites may or may not know what you put with you when you got in the car, but they know it's you in that car. They know that you are the person that are the focus of their data collection.

I've started adding web sites to my "hosts" file. The hosts file is what tells the system which domains you are hosting. If I add google.com to my hosts file, my browser will check my computer first for the hosting. It will see my claim that I'm hosting the file and it will quit searching further. I'm not hosting google's content, so I get a web page not found in my browser.

I'm rambling. I guess my point was that I don't expect people to keep coming back. I expect traffic to slow to zero activity on some days.
I never got online to win a popularity contest. I get more attention than I want at work or amongst people who know me.

Comic Message boards seem to be going extinct faster than ever. Just yesterday, DarkHorse just locked down their boards and are taking them off fully in 2 weeks. Seems like losing the StarWars license is pushing them to dump the board format rather than keeping it going. Out of all the mobile web apps out there, I thought message boards would be the one constant format to at least remain in place. I didn't know it was so expensive to maintain.

Dark Horse doesn't utilize any online marketing effectively. All their eggs were stuck in one basket, so I don't see a real future in anything they do. Messageboards require maintaining and they require that people have an interest in the content being discussed. It involves labor, so it can be expensive. I'm sure they could leverage for volunteers. Someone at Dark Horse needs to plot out a marketing campaign that involves a timeline for each product with teasers & distribution of that. They need the utilization of online resources to be at it's maximum for everything.
