Atlas Comics Trademark Search (21st Dec 16 at 10:21pm UTC)
Did a trademark search at the USPTO government site.

The ATLAS COMICS trademark is owned by Dynamite Entertainment. It was renewed in November of 2015.
Jason Goodman filed for the trademark in March of 2016. His application was rejected on June 29, 2016. The reason cited was that it could be confused with the trademark owned by Dynamite.

Even if the application had been accepted, his logo artwork would have had to be corrected because the art he submitted had the "TM" (trademark) letter on it and they would have rejected that as being part of the submitted artwork. My first thought upon seeing the artwork was "Why would a lawyer not advise his client that the artwork may not include the "TM" symbol?" To me that would be common sense. I'm sure the lawyer would have known.

Wow. Not sure the specifics, but it sounds like Dynamite outmanuevered Goodman. Cutthroats.

Dynamite bought the rights from an individual that registered in 2005. It knocked competition out of the market. That's what companies do.

It's clear that Goodman had not secured the Trademarks before using the name. Huge error and that's his mistake. I think Dynamite is aggressive at exploiting loopholes to brand a little known company with well known properties. I don't have a problem with that. Companies need to be aggressive and proactive. I don't have a problem with Valiant creating a "savage" character to substitute the role that Turok would have played in their universe. In the comics industry, a publisher needs to walk carefully and watch their back on every move they make. I wish Dynamite was as savvy with their story developments as much as they were with the business side of their company.
