Thanks to Get Marwood & I for the images and reminding me the variants existed. I evidently listed one at some point before being reminded they exist. I'll need to sort through my scans to see if I have more 15 cent cover images.

I've added Six-Gun Heroes #67 to my CGC page - it's too big to upload here, even compressed, and I don't have a 3rd party hosting website, sorry. Anyway, link here:

The threads you have going on the CGC board and the image hosting is perfect. No need to apologize or change anything.

I dropped out as a registered member there. Too many cliques and people going back and forth with memes.

I got sidetracked creating some EC reprint cover galleries, but I will probably get back to updating the Charlton list again soon.

I've posted a meme or two there myself as it goes, and you're right about the cliques. Before I joined I read that you'd get a hard time on arrival, but if you proved your worth they'd take you in. Over two years of posting definitive pence / variant lists later and I'm still waiting for the invite! I've never felt welcome there if I'm honest. Made a few friends but I'm largely ignored alas.

It's not the memes per se, but the flood of memes with people not even talking about comics. I don't even mind off topic content, but the bulk of discussion there is not informative. I go to conventions and educate dealers about what exist. The owner of Heroes Con had the Charlton printing of EC's Impact #1 in his box for sale. I said "Hey, this is cool. This is the Charlton 1st printing of Impact #1." He had no idea what I was talking about. I asked Golden age dealer Harley Yee if he had any Charlton adult humor comics. He'd never seen or heard of them. These are people that have a career in the hobby and float around from city to city doing shows. I know a lot about comics, but I'm running out of knowledgeable sources that can actually show me something that interests me.

I think the one message board thread that I dread seeing the most is "What bags and boards should I use?" I was using mylites in 1982. There isn't a lot of information that I'm going to find informative in those threads.

As far as acceptance goes on the CGC forum, several core members said my posts were their favorite. The problem was that they'd coax me to tell something about my personal life experiences and they all thought I was lying. There would be a half dozen threads about me when I was there to talk about comics. There were also a few online "enemies" (I use the word loosely) that I'd offended over a decade ago and they stirred up trouble whenever I posted anything they didn't like. There were constant attempts to negate my right to my own opinion. Eventually, I got tired of it. I wanted to talk about comics and share info about comics, but most people were hanging out to socialize and laugh with their clique of friends.

There are some great threads over there, but they are the exception from my experience.

I can relate to that! There's one leading UK dealer over here who is a proponent of pence copies. I asked him if he had any Charltons hiding in his stock and he said "there aren't any pence Charltons". When I said there were over 800 he glazed over. I was desperate to talk about it and he, the proponent of pence variants, wasn't interested. That's life in the Charlton lane for you.

Back to the CGC boards, I find once you make an enemy they're enemies for life. I made a few early on as I wasn't familiar with their online etiquette and was a bit annoying probably. I've tried a few times to make amends and hand out olive branches but it rarely works. I came to the site late and I think I would have had a lot more interaction on my pence threads had I arrived sooner. A software change alienated many of the old timers and I think the place is becoming less and less about comics now. There are still good threads and good people there but I find myself drifting slowly away. Ever decreasing circles of interest alas.

Many collectors have an agenda online. A dealer with hundreds of boxes of dead 90's stock will cop an attitude if you criticize the subject matter of something they are trying to sell & monetize. It doesn't matter that you are just expressing your opinion. They get offended because they want to pawn off their drek to uneducated buyers. If you provide a valid justification that something should not be worth much (overproduced, poor quality, etc.), they take that as an offense. Even if you express it as opinion, they treat it as an attack.

One "respected" (again, I use the term loosely) individual in the hobby has lied to his admirers for years and I've called him out on it. He's fabricated lies to his followers and his followers have done the same in an attempt to discredit me. I refused to roll over and play dead, so any interaction is destined to be negative and confrontational. I dropped out of his message board in an attempt to separate myself from the drama, but people followed me and begged me to rejoin. When I said "no", they again perpetuated lies about me knowing that I was not there to defend myself or justify my assertions. The ripple effects persist.

As far as the dealer that wasn't aware of Charlton pence comics, he doesn't have any and he knows the market is small. He's only interested in what will make him money.
