Here is a Google translation from a Mexican comics web site regarding the publisher Editora Sol:

Quote:

Although Sol never had the success and importance of its competences La Prensa and Novaro, it was a great publisher considering the material that came to publish. But let's go in parts: Editora Sol began publishing comics in the early 1950s, picking up some that had been left by other publishers and even continuing in the numbering they had left, such as Cuentos del Abuelito that CEM originally published with the adaptation of the Reina de la Costa Negra and that Sol took back in 1953 from # 59, initially with cartoons of religious themes, and later began publishing comics of horror and horror.

In the beginning, Editora Sol published material from all the gringas publishers that were not edited by Novaro and La Prensa, mainly EC, and titles that their competition did not deal with, such as Fighting American, Buck Rogers, Famous Funnies, Blue Beetle, Captain Midnight , Submariner, Human Torch, among others.

The publications of Sol had, officially, a fortnightly periodicity, nevertheless, according to my investigation, they took a month or until more in going out to positions of newspapers, something bad for the readers who lost the thread of the arguments; in addition, they had a "very small" print run compared to that of their competitors, between five thousand and 10 thousand copies, and they even managed to throw up to 15 thousand copies only if the magazine was successful, such as "Aventuras".

This is very helpful as I've only gathered a handful of Mexican EC reprint cover images. Most of the images were war comics to date.

Here is a horror comic they published in October of 1950:

Historietas Edicion Miedo, Terror, Espanto #498

At best, I'll just be able to pluck away at creating a checklist as online sellers reveal what's inside.

Some of the comics have a circular "EyD" that resembles the circular "EC" symbol. The "EyD" symbol stands for "EXPORTER AND DISTRIBUTOR OF EDITIONS S.A." It really has nothing to do with identifying the comic as EC content.

Here's a starting point for a cover gallery. I have more info & titles, but I've lost some content info in the collection process.
