I probably mentioned elsewhere that I'd recovered some old emails from a program that had them stored in a proprietary format. These emails were the ones going back and forth when I was first creating and collecting info for my web pages. These were the emails received and sent when I was buying collectibles from creators. Recovering the files just dumped everything into a single folder with nothing sorted or segregated. I periodically spend some time to sort and file the messages. I also get to read what was going on and revive any old ideas for my sites that were on my mind.

In one of my emails to a fellow collector, I wrote this about "hype":

Quote:
Most hype is garbage. I'm sick of people telling me why I should like a comic. I'm tired of the horse
circling around to push the cart that it's supposed to be pulling in the straight direction of entertainment.

That analogy spoke to me. It still rings true. The company that is supposed to be entertaining people is more interested in trying to tell me why their comics are good than they are making good comics.

In another portion of the email, I commented on Future Comics...

Quote:
Future Comics is not about characterization... it's about make-believe. It's Millie the Model for guys.
It's just plain juvenile.

It's interesting to read these emails from a time when I cared more about comics and collecting.

I think I said something along those lines.
