Yang - Posted By Star Brand (starbrand) on 17th Feb 15 at 4:14pm
I'm slowly working my way through reading Yang. I recently purchased the entire run, along with House of Yang. I had to make two separate purchases to get them all.

"G" is a fan of the character.

Yang returns in a new story scripted by Roger McKenzie, to be published in The Charlton Arrow #5 and sold via IndyPlanet.

I've never read a Yang comic. Saw Charlton Neo pop up as a suggested group on Facebook. I'm not joining the group, but I'm guessing Mort Todd has used my "Campus Humor" scan in his 2016 April Fools page. I'm glad to see my efforts get some indirect feedback.

I have two #1s in great condition. I'd say VF at least on both. I do like the character. For a subdued character he got in enough trouble. I find the hangman cover to be one of my favorites as well. I'm not sure but I think it's #4. 3 or 4. I think.

I don't think I've ever read one. I don't remember if I located good quality scans of the entire series. Last I remember, that cover gallery was not complete. I have a lot of Charlton scans to add to my checklist.

Weird that there appears to be no issue #14, apparently skipped from #13 to #15.

Yeah. There's a 9 year gap between #13 & #15 also. I think I have enough scans to complete that gallery. I might take a break from trying to locate the last two I need for Black Fury and knock out that title.

Looks like there are two YANG threads. We've probably got duplication on some of the DEFIANT topics too.

Re: Yang - Posted By Defiant1 (admin) on 14th Feb 19 at 2:18am
I am intentionally creating new threads when I post a gallery of cover scans. I want the covers to be at the top of the thread so it visually grabs the attention of the viewer and serves as a backup for my gallery pages online. There is no assurance that any of my gallery pages will be accessible from day to day. If I can combine threads and keep the cover gallery at the top, I will. If I can't, I won't.

I think Gowaltrip ("G") ran onto hard times and sold his collection. I think it's unlikely he'll be back unless he's having sad memories about the past and gets nostalgic. {Sad}

Charlton Neo published a couple Yang stories in the last few years. I believe Yang is considered to be Orphan status, meaning it technically might not be public domain but there is no one remaining with the will or motive to fight usage of the character.

You'd think that creators who make a living off of copyrights would respect the copyrights of others and not use the character.
There are plenty of characters that are public domain.

Sad to hear that Gowaltrip. He seemed like a good guy. He got pissed at me one time as apparently I sold him a comic with missing pages. I didn't always count pages before I flipped a book, but I definitely do that kind of thing now with prices going so crazy when you go to sell books. I think I offered a refund, but I don't recall if he took me up on it.

The post you are replying to is 2 years old. Ironically, within the last month, his profile here started showing activity. I emailed him at his Google email address, but got no response. He hasn't posted or tried to send a private message, so I don't know what is going on. Hopefully it's him and no one has hacked his personal data.

Man, just checking recent posts and came upon this by surprise.

I did like Yang. I had two #1s which were both in like NM- condition which for a Charlton was extremely rare. I tried gaining the whole collection but I think I was missing like 2 issues. My favorite cover was the controversial hanging cover. Overall it was Charlton doing better work on these than most of their other books. Never cared much for House of Yang except it was another Charlton and I loved collecting Charltons.

As for you Brother J. I don't remember exactly what happened between us but I remember always regretting it. I'm not saying the missing pages thing was it. It may have been. But I don't remember that and generally unless I paid big bucks which usually I didn't, I wasn't usually that anal over a book missing pages. But you could be right.

I again could be wrong but I seem to recall me and you having words over some negative remarks I made on my board and we got into a verbal thing on my board which caused you to quit my board. Again, instant regret and it made for me feeling a bit awkward about you over here. I always wished we could let whatever it was blow over and I wanted you to come back to my board. It just never happened. In return, I always thought you were pretty cool and whatever it was that happened just seemed trivial to me in the big picture.

I'm truly not sure which is true. It's been so long. I'd have to look at your last posts on my board to confirm it. But, it doesn't matter. I always thought you was cool and had great posts at all sites and I hated it and if I can I'd like to send a I apologize whatever it was and glad you still come here to support and contribute over here..

Certain Yang scans were really tough to locate. #14 evidently doesn't exist. Then I discovered Newsstand & Direct versions of the last issues. Essentially that just means there are versions with bar codes and some without.

So how many issues in sequence actually are there? Are you saying it ends at 13 or 14? I haven't looked in a long time but for some reason I was thinking there was like 11. I cant remember which one but I feel like I always had trouble locating #2 or #3. I don't remember which but one of these two I seem to recall was super easy and the other one next to impossible to find. I could he wrong but I want to say #4 was the hangman issue and sometimes I would see dealers have this one on display and costing more than other ones. And I want to say either 10 or 11 was hard to find. But I didn't realize off the top of my head itn went all the way to 14. I had Overstreets so I'm sure I knew back in the day but 14 issues makes me kind of scratch my head and say huh? Did I forget that badly?
