Re: Yang (14th Feb 19 at 6:18am UTC)
I am intentionally creating new threads when I post a gallery of cover scans. I want the covers to be at the top of the thread so it visually grabs the attention of the viewer and serves as a backup for my gallery pages online. There is no assurance that any of my gallery pages will be accessible from day to day. If I can combine threads and keep the cover gallery at the top, I will. If I can't, I won't.

I think Gowaltrip ("G") ran onto hard times and sold his collection. I think it's unlikely he'll be back unless he's having sad memories about the past and gets nostalgic. {Sad}

I'd not heard of this title. I've been watching lots of HAVE GUN WILL TRAVEL lately, and that's got me interested in Westerns.

I only like certain westerns. Overall, I'm not a fan of the genre.
I liked Rawhide reruns as a kid.
I have found myself watching "Have Gun Will Travel" and I do like it.
I find myself analyzing the show because I like the mood, the flow, and the feel of the stories better than I do modern stuff.
The music plays an important role in old TV shows to define the mood and suspense.

I make these lists and forget about titles existing or even covers existing until I revisit them years later. I saw a cover for this series about a week ago and thought the same thing you did. I thought I'd never heard of it before. Evidently, I had when I made the list because it was there. I even had a cover scan posted. I looked in my folder of unprocessed image scans and saw I was only missing one cover to make the cover gallery complete. I like the 1950's era Charlton covers better than any other era. The 70's are a runner up, but the first 6 issues of this series have that look I like. Not so much on #7. Edit: I like the covers on #2, #3. #5, and #6. Characters standing there and spinning look lame. They often aren't facing the viewer and they look like the grabbed interior art and just reused it.

Looks like there are two YANG threads. We've probably got duplication on some of the DEFIANT topics too.

Does a Canadian printing of Tales From the Crypt #34 exist?

Heritage solicited it within a lot of Superior reprints being sold. Did they mess up? or did Superior break their pattern of removing the American distribution symbols?

The image on the left is from the Heritage auction. The image on the right is from an American version.

That same seller has the Birth Of Defiant Universe art cover too. I think he once listed that as 5 grand some years back and slowly he marked it down. I think even 12 grand one time before that. Looking at his auctions, he sells current vei artwork too so I wouldn't be surprised if it's one of those forumers. I thought as a forumer there, he would have more knowledge that this was just an ad and at least have more info on the artist.

The only Schism promo art I remember seeing is this one on a promo card and the ads with the Zahnree character floating over earth. Never saw any solicted cover art.

This artwork has someone named Holdridge on it.

I don't know of a Holdridge. I really don't want to think too deeply about it. I've said it before, but I lost interest in DEFIANT art when the artists started jacking up the prices. There was no market for the art before my site. As soon as my site started sparking interest in the comics and art, prices escalated ten-fold. Does it make any sense for a person to drive up the prices of something they want to buy? They can ask what they want, but I'm not going to drive up the prices and then rush out and pay those prices. I have some degree of self-respect. I really only wanted the unpublished art so that I could recreate the stories. The creators started splitting up the artwork when they found out they could sell it. My moderate interest dropped to zero at that point. As far as I'm concerned, Lapham's art is in less demand than ever. He simplified his style and in my opinion he devalued the worth of all his art.

Buying art is just a novelty thing for me. I'm not yearning for the best. I don't want the worst at all. My collection is just a random whim to have a representation of the artist's work. I'm more likely to buy art now if I'm meeting the creator at a show. It'd just be a reminder that I met the creator.

Tres cool {Cool}

I think they were distributed in schools. This and the occupational series (maybe one other) were King Features characters that were published by Charlton. They all have the odd numbering with the "King" imprint on the covers. I found out about this series in an EC comics group a few weeks ago. I found out about the occupational series from online expert Ramon Schenk.

Thanks. It's reassuring to know that it actually exists.
I grabbed the scan, but I cant use it. One thing I can't fix is the glare of the cover.
I can fake it since I know what it looks like. I'd prefer to wait for a good scan.

Re: Defiant Comics Art (6th Feb 19 at 10:20pm UTC)
I thought about buying art from Lapham directly through a web link I have saved. The prices would have been better by buying larger quantities, but I opted against that. I think that is his eBay account. I've seen the account before, but I might be wrong about it being him.

Hell would fucking freeze over before I'd pay even $200 for a piece of DEFIANT art and it would have to be the best of the best. $1200 is not even remotely tempting. The eBay ad is wrong on the second link also. It was published as the cover to CSN (Comic Shop News) #366 (June 29, 1994) . The ad states that it was unpublished. I do not believe that it was ever intended to be the cover to a Schism comic book. CSN ran artwork on their covers that were not used on the comics themselves. Where would the title logo have been placed? DEFIANT didn't have small title graphics. CSN did.

Furthermore, I think Valman51 is Greg. He can go fuck himself. I wouldn't buy a damn thing from him even if he was charging me only a penny.

You stirred up memories I'd forgotten about. It brought out my colorful language.

I dug a little. I thought Valman51 was Greg. He's implying online that it isn't him. The seller is being identified as someone in Illinois. I don't think it's former board member Vaultkeeper. I think he would've mentioned owning this if he'd owned in in 2002.

I don't even like thinking about the people on the Valiant message board. Some of those names piss me off because they're obnoxious slime balls. Some annoy me because they're ignorant about how obnoxious the slime balls are.
