This is gonna be good. Kind of epic. Smart move on MAD's end. Maybe they'll make the magazine a monthly from bi-monthly. And fresher covers that feature other topics than Trump every issue.

I think it can only be good for both. It's like taking a noose off someone to be able to expand to more projects other than the Simpsons.

His comedy career is taking off because of the TV show.
His voice work is taking off because of the TV show.
His movie career is taking over because of the TV show. His TV show is his weekly connection to his audience.
Get rid of that and he's throwing away the audience that his recognition brings to the table for other projects. Maybe he can sustain with Deadpool sequels. I don't know. Maybe his marriage is under strain and that's affecting his judgment. I think the show will do fine without him.

It's okay. I will say this, Jim seems more confident in these more recent interviews. That's good to see. I think doing the shows gives him a better connection to those who appreciate his work and it counterbalances all the years of people criticizing him. He's careful to share the credits even though he did do the lion's share of bringing the ideas to paper. I think he's maintaining a good balance with that.

Yea, why burn a bridge like that. It only takes couple box office duds for him to want to crawl back to tv again. And to bail out on a Mike Judge project.

At least be gracious to tell them he's open to come back when they offered it. Sounds like he really hated being Erlich more than the audience did. That character is so easy to play too.

He says:

Quote:
I didn’t talk to Alec because I don’t like Alec, but I think Mike Judge and [co-executive producer] Clay Tarver are brilliant.

He seems to have gripes with Thomas and Alec.
I really think this was a serious burning of bridges. This will affect his future employment.
The second interview was "edited and condensed for clarity". Hmmm!
It makes me think the interviewer was trying to weed out the BS.

Yea, I wonder if it involves the original core characters from 1992. I look at the Image solicits now and I don't recognize any of those current indie titles.

Looks like Erlich's character got a reprieve in his last episode. And Emily made another cameo.

Here's Mike Judge talking about the finale:

The more he mentions this new work, the more exciting it's getting. He mentioned his role with Image as "coach" instead of an editorial. Which in a way still sounds like he's steering them in an editorial way. They can call it whatever they want, I can't want to see his next big comic comeback again. Image should start the promotions and marketing now. Teasers and web blurbs.

My concern is that it'll include some character like Savage Dragon that don't interest me in the least.

Good one. I'll buy anything Jim & Neal do together. Seeing Steranko & Jim work together would be cool too.

I think they need to hand it over as quickly as possible to a new actor. I really don't like watching a half senile old man reprising the roles that he should have done 2 decades ago. He's done okay, but he's about 2 movies away from me being really tired of him.

Yea, he really hates digital. I don't know if he knows but a small chunk of his Marvel stuff is already available on the dark horse digital site. Not all but 15 percent of his Marvel Groo run from the trade paperback collections dark horse released in the later years. I wonder if his stance on digital is what's holding up the re-collection of the early Marvel Groo that hasn't been released again. I heard he makes dimes on royalties off of the trade collections and hardcovers so far. I'm curious to see what the numbers really are for digital. It's like netflix and their secret viewership numbers, they don't release the units sold for digital comics either. Bongo went all digital now and cancelled pretty much everything but one title. That method can't really be a hit for them over actual print collectors like me. Smiley

I think the Simpsons will be going the path of "I love Lucy" & "Gilligan's Island". It's had a good run, but I just can't see it lasting much longer... either the comics or the TV show.

I hope they give Harrison Ford's character adequate screen time in this one. Unlike Force Awakens where it takes one hour for him to show up....only to get killed off at the end.
