I haven't settled on the specifics yet. It's sort of a living thing right now. Some things are happening that are far better than I'd hoped for. I have to let things play out a bit as far as what people are doing before I decide on specifics. As soon as I have them I'll post here about it. As far as the links you posted, Defiant1, thanks. I'll be mentioning the board as a source.

Just know that I'm not looking for accolades or personal attention. I try to archive the info to help other collectors. I have a problem with people mirroring my site, but the images themselves do not belong to me. The facts and historical data don't belong to me. As long as you make the fanzine your own, you are welcome to the images and data on my site. I created my DEFIANT site because the information was not online. I sat around wondering why no one had put the information online. Then I looked at myself and decided that I have no right to complain if I'm unwilling to do it myself. I decided at that moment to do it myself. Many people have helped and contributed. The info here is "By the fans, for the fans." Occasionally I've meted out information more slowly than it was received, but that is so people have a steady reason to come back and stay engaged. Defiant1

It's likely this fanzine will be very rare. I don't think I'll print more than a few copies above and beyond comp copies for any artists who contribute and a few other comps. I'll try to presell it also. I'm in no position to take a loss on it.

1993 was when Plasm, Splatterball, Dark Dominion and Good Guys came out. I don't remember which Defiant issue officially came first....the Plasm #0 comics inside Previews (1993 Feb-June issue?) or the Birth Of Defiant Universe convention comic. I got my copy of Birth years later when I discovered it's existence from the forums.

I might use some unpublished Schism art as the cover. The Zine very well might be magazine sized. I bet it'll be at least 20 pages. We should have a drop box folder set up soon that'll hold content for the Zine. Things should become a bit clearer then.

Magazine sized sounds nice....this is getting exciting. What's interesting about the Schism notes and leftover art was Lorca was left on planet earth with the heroes after the crossover ended. And Chasm was left in charge of the Org after eating Glimmer's heart. Maybe Joe James might remember where the next stuff was headed for them.

Defiant1 Maybe that's where they kept the re-drawn Joe James pages for Dark Dominion #0 that were mentioned in those old Defiant solicits. That would be a good extra to the Zine.....all those September 1993 solicits that have been cliffhangers to fans for 24 years... http://defiant.x10.bz/Cancelled.html And the Fatale/Michael Alexander crossover....that would make the Zine jump to 48 pages!

There's enough material to fill up volumes. I guess the fun part is editing everything down to a suitable page count. I look at the magazines from Twomorrows like "Back Issue" and "Alter Ego," and alot of the color images used in those articles are taken straight from online spots like ComicArtFans or google images. I'd sooner go back to drawing my cartoons if i wanted to write. I quit drawing my cartoons because I was too busy doing my regular job. That rears it's head when I least want it to such as today. I was going to work 12 hours and I ended up working 13. I still may do a very small board project of a hand collated publication. I have a color laser printer, so I had something full color in mind last year. I was just too busy and my window of opportunity passed. We've got a LOT of work slated in the future, so I may be screaming in a few months for a day off. I'm supposed to be leaving work now. I'm punched out, but a storm just came through and it sounds like a tornado roaring outside. Defiant1

I look at the magazines from Twomorrows like "Back Issue" and "Alter Ego," and alot of the color images used in those articles are taken straight from online spots like ComicArtFans or google images. I do have a good cover artist. Shooter said the bad guy was going to win Schism. Chasm looking evil and seated on a throne might be an idea that would symbolize his victory that never got to play out. Maybe have some of the more important DEFIANT heroes laying at his feet, defeated. Throw the dark tower that was the DEFIANT logo prominently in the background would look pretty awesome too. Or, leave the tower off the cover.

Interesting. He appears to have commissions posted on comicartfans.com . If it's the same guy, he put a lot more work into this. I like the background. I'm wondering how much better this would look with some tight & clean inking. I'd love to see what Rudy Nebres would've done with that. Some things he nailed. My only concern here is that it'd be really easy to mess it up with colors because it's got so much detail to it. Defiant1

He said he's got a really good colorist for this piece. He went to the Kubert school about a year ago. He's literally the hardest working small press artist I know, and as a result he seems to get incrementally better every few months.

That's the kind of people that Valiant & DEFIANT used. This looks better than some of the art they were going to use for Schism. I'l just never forget seeing George Perez at a convention and explaining to a guy that he had to draw the hairs on Wolverine's arm just the right size. Too small, you couldn't see them after it was published. Too big and they all blended together as a blob. I didn't even know who George Perez was at the time. I think of that whenever I see a lot of detail close together. Defiant1

In all honesty, a desire to be an artists along with time and practice are all it takes. Some people pick it up sooner, but the more you draw, the better you get. Even as lousy as I am, it was becoming more natural the more I did it. Defiant1
